Creative Director JOB MISSION: As a member of the executive leadership team for the Agency, build and lead a highly talented and energized creative services group that provides the creative capabilities necessary to create holistic marketing solutions to help solve our clients’ business problems. PERFORMANCE MEASURES: · Within 6 months, assess the current creative department organizational chart and amend or create a new one that supports and enhances the creative output and process · Within 6 months, have a solid understanding of the current client set and influence a higher standard of creative quality for the work related to them · Within 6 months, be fully integrated into the executive team as a contributing and effective member · Within 12 months, have begun implementing the new organizational chart by hiring the appropriate talent · Within 12 months, make the entire agency “look better” by enhancing the creative quality of the work · Creative services quality is at the highest level · The entire creative department is fluent with the Interactive landscape and is continuously learning about emerging tools and trends · Client campaigns achieve targeted results · Creative Services portion of the new business presentations demonstrate a high level of creativity and tie directly into the client’s business objectives · Highly valued and talented creative team members are attracted and retained · The Executive Creative Director is a significant contributor to the strategic growth of the Agency RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: · Be the champion of quality by not allowing work to go out that is not at its best · Ensure the creative process ties together research, ideas and concepts into an actionable plan and that it is followed through from start to finish · Lead the creative process to ensure client results, win business and deliver best-in-class creative · Develop the creative process, always looking to identify process improvement · Develop creative talent · Continually seek out new creative talent assist in hiring, training and developing the agencys creative talent to meet changing client needs including full-time staff as well as a talented freelance “bench” · Develop innovative creative solutions to solve client marketing challenges · Integrate Interactive tools and strategies to support the business objectives of the client · Ensure the entire team stays fluent on interactive trends with skill sets to support them · Has enough knowledge and experience to direct client to the right interactive tools and not just the hot topic · Ensure the team is capable of and can make recommendations and execute · When appropriate, help create business development strategies for new and existing clients · Generate ideas that excite clients and expand their perceptions of what the Agency can do to help them drive results · Be a creative resource to the team as client needs or budgets change, and further develop the relationship with the client · Continue to study the creative and media milieu, integrating lessons and techniques where appropriate into client communications strategies and tactics · Understand the clients business objectives and how those objectives relate to the target audience · Develop creative solutions that speak to the target audience(s) · Stay tuned-in to business issues, particularly in key account industries to assist in generating relevant creative ideas · Develop and actively manage vendor/ talent relationships to ensure the best available resources BEHAVIORS: · Leader by example · Professional · Charismatic · Entrepreneurial · Passionate · Calm under pressure · Team oriented · Collaborative · Thinker · Hands-on, “doer” · Self Educator SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: · 8+ years of Creative Services experience with a heavy concentration in copywriting · 5+ years as a leader/manager in a Creative Services role · 5+ years experience working with Interactive tools and strategies for client programs · College degree · Excellent presentation skills · Excellent verbal and listening communication skills, team-building skills · Strong creative writing · Strong inclination to running a business as well as delivering top level creative · Strong conceptual skills · Overall acumen: client focus, accountability for results, team effectiveness, developing others, organizational sophistication, ingenuity and communicating ideas REPORTS TO: President
