Description
The Literacy Project is seeking a GED instructor at our Orange, MA site. The position is part time (11 hrs/wk) and temporary (through June 30) with the possible extension of the position pending continued funding. The weekly salary is $201.41. Starting date is ASAP (ideally on Tuesday, April 29).
Position responsibilities include teaching adult learners ages 16 and older in GED classes two mornings a week (Tues & Thurs, 9:30 to 12:30), class preparation, student assessment, student counseling, and miscellaneous meetings and record-keeping.
Qualifications include demonstrated knowledge and experience teaching GED level curriculum utilizing a student-centered and preferably, whole language approach; excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively; experience with diverse groups of people; and basic computer literacy.
The Literacy Project (TLP) is a non-profit, community-based organization offering adult basic education and GED preparation services at 5 classroom sites in Western MA. TLP’s philosophy is based in an empowerment model that is learner-centered and participatory.
